Lazy Suzan
The short film Lazy Susan made me feel happy, surprised, and amused. It had a fun and silly way of telling a story without using many words. Right from the beginning, I was interested because the two sisters in the film were so different from each other. One sister, Susan, was extremely lazy, she barely moved at all. The other sister, Annie, was super active always spinning, jumping, and working very hard in the family’s Chinese restaurant. This made me laugh and want to see what would happen next.
The story was short but very clever. It shows a family working hard to keep their restaurant running. While one sister works all the time, the other seems like she’s just relaxing and not helping. But something surprising happens—Susan comes up with a genius idea that changes everything. Without giving too much away, her invention is both funny and smart. The film teaches us that sometimes the person who looks like they’re doing nothing might be the one who has the best idea. The message of the film is that being lazy isn’t always bad—sometimes it helps people think in new and creative ways. Like the saying goes, “Laziness is the mother of invention.”
The characters in the film felt real and funny. Even though they didn’t speak much, I could understand them through their actions and expressions. Susan, the lazy sister, was the one who stood out the most because she didn’t do much at first, but she ended up being the star. Annie was also fun to watch with all her wild movements and serious attitude. Their relationship as sisters felt true—they didn’t always agree, but you could tell they cared about each other in the end.
The way the film was shot made it even more enjoyable. The camera showed bright colors and warm lighting that made the restaurant feel like a happy place. Some of the shots were really fun—especially the parts where the camera spun around, just like Susan’s final invention. Those spinning scenes were funny and made the story feel alive and silly.
The music and sound added a lot too. When Annie was around, the music was loud and busy. When Susan appeared, the music slowed down, matching her lazy style. It helped me know how each person felt even without them saying much. The sounds and voices were very clear, and the music helped tell the story in a fun way.
Overall, Lazy Susan was a short and wonderful film. It met my expectations by being funny, smart, and surprising. Its biggest strength was how it turned a lazy character into a clever hero in such a short time. It didn’t have big action or sad parts, but it made me smile and think. I would definitely recommend it to others—especially kids or anyone who loves short, silly stories with a twist. The film leaves a good message behind: never judge someone too quickly, and sometimes the quietest people have the brightest ideas.
